Bob Marley familiy launches international marijuana (Igbo!) Brand.
Following the legalization of recreational and medicinal marijuana across various states in the United States of America, there seem to be an emergence of an industry that might not have been predicted a decade ago.
More and more companies are exploring and finding new ways to process the 'herb' and cash in on a market with an obsession for cannabis.From cookies made form marijuana, medicinal fluids from its oil extracts to mobile applications that makes for seamless purchase and delivery.
Some companies have recorded as much as 400% growth in a single year (Eden Labs).
More interesting is the fact that some are looking to brand the 'herb' and market the brand internationally just like cocacola or Luis Vitton..
And who else has the right of first refusal for a branding venture of this magnitude if not the Marley family.
The family of Jamaican-born reggae star Bob Marley launched a first-of-its-kind global cannabis brand on Tuesday. Called Marley Natural, it will hit the market in late 2015 – and is aimed at both medical and adult-recreational use (21 and over).
It is a venture of Bob Marley’s widow, Rita, who is also a reggae musician, and his children and grandchildren, in partnership with Seattle-based Privateer Holdings, a leading cannabis focused private-equity firm.
